Sleeping baby!!

Just too cute not to post. This is his happy face after sleeping from 10:00 until 5:50 when I had to wake him up.


This picture was taken right after his brother decorated him with his blanket and doggy.



Since I can't dress him up in pigtails and lace the next best thing was a giraffe outfit! The hat put him over the limit!


I have been trying to get a good video of him cooing! Stay tuned for that. He really likes to talk to James and Aunt Caroline.

Week in review!

My first week back to work was a good one. The first two days Henry decided to try out 2:00am feedings. That was not fun but he straightened himself out and went back to getting up at 4:00. He gets his last bottle at 10:00. This morning he went until 5:30!!! He had a great week at Grandma's. Hannah, my sisters baby, couldn't get enough of him. This picture says it all!



She is really into baby dolls right now! You can only imagine how excited she is that this baby doll moves!
Since Henry's one month check up I have been working hard with Henry to get him to smile. And yes others have told me that he has smiled at them. It doesn't count until he smiles at his mommy. Up until Thursday anytime I tried to get him to smile his lower lip would quiver and he would start crying! A big boast for my esteem! Finally on Thursday he decided I was cool enough to smile at! I haven't gotten a good picture yet but here is a funny one.



He has been cooing all weekend.
James has had a wonderful week now that his routine is back to normal! This week they learned about the letter B. At dinner he showed me how to sign the letter B. James has decided that the dinner table is a dangerous place so he has started wearing his helmet.



Ansley worked on rhyming words this past week. It amazes me how she learns things so quickly! Her new thing is wanting to have a sleepover!!

Fire Station 61

On Saturday the cousins went to the Fire Station to play! Mrs. Nicole's husband is a firefighter at the local station and invited the kids to come and check it out. Caroline dropped the kids off for about an hour. I was hoping when we picked them up that the station was still standing. The kids had a blast playing in the trucks and running around.

Backyard fun!

These pictures are from last weekend. It is hard to tell who had the most fun!!

















On Friday James was sick with strep throat. He had been saying that his tummy hurt on and off last week. Finally on Thursday I took him to the doctor. I thought we would go and the doctor would say everything is fine and we would be on our way. Wrong!! My kids are in the 10% of the population that has one out of the four symptoms being a tummy ache. They don't run a fever or complain that their throat is hurting. They just get mean and have a tummy ache. So James stayed home with me on Friday (my last day of maternity leave). The entire day he insisted that he wasn't sick. Poor guy.


Yes he has a helmet on! Can never be to safe when playing with airplanes.


Henry had some fun playtime this week. He is such a good baby whisperer kid!! He loves his schedule and as you can tell loves his food. He is mostly on my milk and then gets formula at the 8, 10, and 4am feeding. He eats between 4 1/2 to 5 ounces and rarely leaves any behind. He sleeps great! He wakes up anytime between 4 and 5 am and then usually goes back to bed until 7. I go back to work on Monday so hopefully Henry will continue to behave during the night!!!

Oh the faces he makes!

The past six weeks I have flown by so fast. Henry is a wonderful baby. He definitely has clear cues on what he wants. When he begins to wake up he starts grunting. When he is awake he is ready to eat it doesn't matter to him if it has only been 2 hours since his last feed. After he eats he will squirm and pull his legs up until he burps. If he cries he is mad because he wants more. After and hour of being awake he will have this wimpy cry which means he is ready for bed. If he makes it to an hour and half and I am trying to hold him to put him asleep he becomes angry. Once put down he is calm and eyes close. This is when I get sad because he is past the newborn stage in my mind and holding him all the time is over!

Love letter to her brother

During "quiet time" aka Henry awake and angry time, Ansley wrote him and letter. She was so proud of this letter. In her own words "mom this is a really long letter!" The way she writes love is too cute. She is such a good big sister. Her patience is contagious whether it is when James is pounding her or Henry is screaming in her lap waiting for a bottle.

One month!

Henry turned one month this week. He has changed so much in one month. He is almost in 3 month clothes. He is my first baby to be in newborn more than two weeks. He goes to bed at 8:00 and wakes up between 3:00 and 4:00. He doesn't miss a meal. He is eating 4 ounces every 3 hours. If he wakes up early he doesn't have much patience if the bottle is not ready. He can definitely clear a room with the noise in his diaper. He plans it very well when he is being held by Ansley and James. They giggle and give him back!! He is cooing and focusing on things. Henry is so close to smiling. He gets all excited but hasn't cracked a smile yet. I have one more week of maternity leave and you can bet this will be my goal. Here are his stats from his check up: Weight: 10 pounds 12 ounces (75%) Height: 21 1/4 (50%) Head size: 16 3/4 (40%) He is my shortest baby. Both James and Ansley were this height when they were born. He also has the smallest head of all the kids. The other two were in the 90%. His reflux has settled in. He has only had one really bad day. He is currently on 7.5 ml of Prevacid once a day. We have been given the go ahead to give him 7.5 ml twice a day. Hopefully it will settle down this next month.

No boys allowed!!

Today Ansley and I left the boys at home and had a girls day out. I let her pick where we would go for lunch. She chose Wendy's. She pounded a hamburger, fries, and frosty!! We then went and got our nails and toes done. She loved it!!! I have to admit it was a long time over due. We had so much fun and it felt so good to sit back and relax. Ansley was very proud of her nails and toes.

Mommy knows best

Since last Tuesday Henry has been battling to get comfortable with reflux. We had two semi good days before the weekend and then he just struggled with staying comfortable all weekend. By Tuesday I was done waiting for Zantac to not kick in!!! I called and of course my doctor was out so I got the run around and finally gave in and made an appointment to see a doctor that doesn't know my family's history. I was not a happy mommy but couldn't bear another minute knowing my little one was in pain. So after hearing how my baby just has gas and feeling defeated by the doctor I managed to get my Prevacid prescription! The doctor wanted me to try holding him different and other such suggestions for a day or two before I filled the prevacid. So what did I do I left the office and filled the prescription. I wanted to tell the man that this is my third child and that I am not stupid and mistaking this for gas problems!!! I instead tried to understand where he was coming from all while trying to hold back my frustration for his lack if listening to a mothers intuition! On the non hormonal side the doctor is a smart man and was only trying to suggest ways not to jump to medicate my kid.
I am happy to report Henry had a good day! The medicine should start working in the next couple dayS. Henry is a very easy baby to read as far as understanding his sleep cues and such!!
At the doctors he weighed 9 pounds 9 oz!!!

Christmas Day!

We had a wonderful Christmas full of fun, presents, and family. We stayed low key this year due to Henry being so young. We just visited immediate family and stayed away from big crowds. James was so pumped to see his remote control train that he was not interested in opening any presents the rest of the day. Ansley on the other hand loved ripping through as many presents as possible. In her own words "Santa brought me everything I wanted plus one other present that I didn't ask for." Her favorite present by far was the big blue foam chair. We finished Christmas at our house and headed to my parents house. We were able to overlap with my sister so we got one picture with all the kids together. We then headed to Bob's parents house where his brother and family were.

Unfortunately, I was in a fog and didn't get as many pictures as I normally would. The memories will have to do this year. Ansley racked up with a bean bag chair and a scooter. James received numerous trains and cars and a bike. Christmas was exciting, full of faith, and family!!!

The days leading up to Christmas morning

I forgot how much less sleep you get at Christmas with a newborn. Staying up until 11:00 helping Santa to get ready for Christmas morning hurts. James wanted a remote control train like Grandaddy's. He was very specific about having a remote control! Seems easy enough..not really. Especially when Santa does the Christmas shopping two days before the big day. The last remote control train was found at the North Pole (aka Toy's r us) on top of the trampoline display. Ansley refused to tell us what she wanted for Christmas. She decided that Santa should know and the rest of us don't need to know. Lucky for us she decided to make a list.... a purple soccor ball, dress up clothes, dora microphone, and a strawberry shortcake car. Easy enough! The kids made Santa some yummy cookies and left milk for him to wash it down.

Then the kids made thier stockings. This year the stockings were lacking in creativity but this was as good as I could do! I pretty much opened the art closet and said go for it.

This year we were blessed to play the Holy family in the Christmas Eve service again. I informed Catherine Anne that this would be the last time we would be supplying baby Jesus! Henry did a wonderful job during the service.
