Happy Fourth of July

Traveling with two kids anywhere is an adventure. But I think this weekend takes the cake so far. We started off by leaving Friday morning to come up to the lake. Ansley had been complaining since she woke up that her tummy hurt. Bob and I chalked it up to her being constipated. Not true. We had gotten halfway up here and she decided to christen the car. We stopped at some nasty gas station which had no Lysol wipes or disinfectant. We cleaned everything up as good as we could then got her in some clean clothes...still hoping that she just ate something wrong. Nope!! We pulled into the drive and she puked again. Luckily, Bob was in the process of getting her out of the car. Ansley had the 12 hour stomach bug. So we contained her in a room and carried a bottle of Lysol around. Saturday morning she was feeling much better!! It is amazing how little ones bounce back. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she didn't spread her bug to anyone else. Luckily, James and I already had this virus. This weekend Ansley enjoyed many things. She really liked swimming in the lake with daddy. She would go down the kiddie slide and swim. She was able to get Grandad to buy her a doll a Anchorage that wasn't even for sale.
We had been pumping Ansley up all day on Saturday for fireworks! She still wasn't feeling enough to be around people so Bob and I took her onto the lake to watch the fireworks alone. We parked far enough away so we could make a fast exit if need be. We had only been in the boat for about 5 minutes and she was asleep. Bob woke her up when they started. She wasn't impressed. She went in and out of sleep the rest of the time. At one point she asked when we were going to get the fireworks (they were going off right in front of her). She finally said it was time to go to the cabin and get in her bed.
James has been on the move, except no really. He thinks that whoever holds him is his saucer. He turns around and flings himself to grab things all the while someone is holding him. His favorite thing is to stand. In his world there is no need to sit down he just wants to stand up and jump. Try holding a twenty pound weight for some time. He is at such a cute stage. He will imitate or at least try to imitate noises that you make at him. He can recognize people and gets so excited when they come through the room. He thinks Ansley is the funniest thing and I am pretty sure she enjoys making him laugh. Luckily, he is too heavy for her to attempt to move him. However, biggin has not been sleeping at night. He gets up at 1 am and then is up on the hour for the rest of night. I think it is a combo of teething and formula. I am really thinking of buying a mosquito net and putting his bed outside next time we are at the lake. He relaxes the moment he hits the porch!

Yesterday I was in the kitchen piddling around and Ansley was calling my name in a whiny voice so I was ignoring..well it just kept getting louder. So I called out there is no one named mommy in this house. What does sassy pants do...."Christine". And that is why sassy is starting school again on Thursday! She needs an outlet.

The day start off with James making his wonderful new noise...grunting and squealing. He has been so excited to see me since he was away from me all weekend. Friday I came down with a 12 hour bug. I could not move. Unfortunately we were going to the lake to play with a bunch of friends we hadn't seen in a while. The Smith's were staying with us and Ansley was so pumped. The twins are such a great influence on my wild child. So instead of being rude I stayed home with my attack dog Oscar. Ansley can't stop talking about Michal and Grey (her name is Nora Grey and she insists on cutting it short). James had a great weekend. Little throwing up the moment he sees me he gives me a little!! Awesome. However, James was so cute when he saw me on Sunday. He couldn't stop hugging me and giggling. Ansley kept asking me if I felt better. She came to me today with one of her art pieces from school that was supposed to be a picture of me. She had taken the eyes off and told me that mommy was sleeping. Kind of cute..kind of freaky. I asked her where my eyes were she said in the other room. Nice!!
I have given into not running the peachtree for the second year in a row. It kills me but I didn't do any qualifying races so I got an 80,000 number. Caroline and I were going to run it together but her number is in the 40,000. She would be done before I started. Guess I am going to have to do some races this year. At least I will be motivated. Plus I ran my pinky toe over with the grocery cart full of groceries and two kids while wearing flip flops. That is all I have to say!!
I just finished Ansley's cute Fourth of July shirt. I will post pictures when she decides to try it on. I have one adorable outfit in the works...stay tuned.

New Kids return!!

It has been somewhat of a draining week. James has a cold. When he gets a cold it is ten times as bad because when he starts coughing the end result is throw up everywhere. It not only comes out of his mouth but his nose too. It is so nasty and sad at the same time. His reflux gets so bad during this time. I never new this because Ansley was rarely sick (due to breast milk and minimal contact with a two year old). I was watching him wake up on the monitor Tuesday and he started to cough all of a sudden he projectile vomits across the crib. I got up there and he was covered from head to toe and the crib sheet, bumpers, bed skirt, and the floor was hit. I am pretty sure he has gotten over the hump.
Ansley has had a great week. She has gone 3 out of 4 days at nap without a diaper on. Today she had an accident in her bed so when I went up to wake her up she had made a bed in her closet. It was too cute. Today I was watching her walk with my sister and noticed what a big girl she has become. I look at James and remember when she was this little. I have brought back one of my favorite videos of her. Enjoy!!! (This is dedicated to Kelley).

I rarely use that useless thing but it did come in use in the pool. I obviously did not take my eye or foot off of him. There are also some pictures from Lake Burton.

Update

So Ansley has just started telling us the funniest things. Last week was a rough week. I think she is really missing the routine of school. Luckily, she only has one more week with me full time. In July she starts back at Mt.Pisgah two days a week until August. This way she can get some time with friends and still be at home with me. She was extremely trying last week but today she woke up with a different attitude. The moment she woke up she was different child. She told me that she liked me today. I was thankful to that since we were running late for the YMCA. She was extremely helpful and compliant all day. I have started her on a reward chart. She has a couple jobs throughout the day....clean out dishwasher with my help, clear table, and pick up toys. She has to brush her teeth, get dressed, say please and thank you, and no whining (or crying as she calls it). She gets a magnetic smilie face when she does these things. I got this board at School box and it is really helping with her enjoying the daily tasks.
James went to his 6 month appointment on Thursday. He was enjoying every minute of this experience. He thought the best part was laying on the table with the noisy paper underneath his feet. He had destroyed the paper by the time Dr. Wilburn came in. He is in the 75th-90th percentile for height and weight. He weighs 19 pounds 9 ounces and is 27 1/2 inches long. He is of course in the 90 percentile for head circumference (just means he has lots of brains...doesn't help putting onesies on). He is doing very well in all other categories. He was all over the place when the doctor was trying to talk to me. She said that she didn't need to ask me how his gross motor skills are developing. I agree. I swear he tried to crawl today. His back legs moved as his head ramed into the ground.

Update

Time for a quick note... So I am off for the summer. Trying to survive stay at home mom status. I love my kids but this is hard work. I make plans daily to get out of the house whether it is a good idea or not. Today I had two errands to run. One to babies r us to get formula and the second to Old Navy to get shirts. I make the long trip to Babies r us because I get rewards for buying formula. I have about decided it isn't worth the trip. They never have the right Good start. That was a bust. Then we walked to Old Navy because they were in the same shopping center. I parked in the middle of the two stores. That was a good idea but a hot one. I had to have gotten at least a half mile walk in. I headed to old navy due to the fact I have two short sleeve shirts. When I was boob feeding my shirts had to be bigger now they must be extra small:) The kids both did awesome and we made it to grandmas in time to feed biggin. However, I got home and tried on my shirts and only one fits right. So back to the store when Bob gets home. All in all it has been a good day. I haven't gotten called any names today and I only got puked on once. Tomorrow is James 6 month old check up. Unfortunately he has a cold so he won't be getting shots. I will let you know where he stands percentage wise.
